For Immediate Release

The last time the Warren County Toastmasters achieved distinguished club honors was back in 2011-2012.

Blairstown, NJ - July 1, 2019 - The Warren County Toastmasters (WCT) club has returned, landing its first Select Distinguished honor in over seven years. Club President Brian Goldrich delivered his tenth and final speech project at his last meeting on the job, completing his Competent Communicator award and helping the club meet the goals it needed to secure the Select Distinguished award. This award marked the culmination of a mammoth year for a club that was on life support in early April 2018.

The Select Distinguished Award is a Toastmasters organization honor which recognizes clubs that meet seven out of ten goals combined in Education, Membership, Training, and Administration. The two most challenging hurdles are in Membership and Education.

Meeting the two available Membership goals requires clubs to initiate new members. If a club adds four new members in a Toastmaster year, it meets one goal. If the club adds any number over an additional four, it meets its second goal. The WCT easily surpassed these challenges by adding a total of nineteen new members to its roster.

The most challenging of these goals to complete are found in Education, where the club’s members need to give approximately ten speeches in a Toastmaster year. This requires members to speak. A lot. Led by Dan Haight and Jen O’Hagan, six members hit the heights that enabled the club to meet their Educational goals in pursuit of the Select Distinguished Award.

This massive turnaround was attributable to the spirit of the club. Many credit Goldrich’s leadership with a shift in attitude which inspired a supportive, cheerful environment and created a positive learning space for its members to succeed. Brian Goldrich gushed about Brian Goldrich, “this award is a credit to Goldrich’s leadership style and ability. He inspired this group to step out of their individual comfort zone and do the things they never thought they could, or were deathly afraid to try. He is a leader’s leader. And I’m thankful I was able to experience this club under his leadership.”
